Amtgard

Amtgard is a battle gaming and live-action fantasy roleplaying and boffer combat game primarily based in the United States as well as other countries (Germany, Croatia, Canada, Korea, and more).

"At it’s core, Amtgard is a Live Action Roleplaying (LARP) and boffer combat society focused on the Sword & Sorcery, Medieval and Ancient genres.

Amtgard uses safe, foam-padded replicas of Medieval weaponry to bring to life the tabletop or video game experience many are familiar with. In Amtgard, you don’t just say what you want to do; you do it. You swing the sword or cast the spell. You are the adventurer.

More than just a sport combat game, the Amtgard Rules of Play include complete rules for classes, leveling, magic and special abilities. Weekly participation in games allows you to advance in a class, unlocking levels and new powers.

The Dor Un Avathar, Amtgard’s “monster manual”, as well as five expansion books are filled with more than 250 monsters, as well as pre-built game scenarios you can use to challenge your friends. You can use these rules to engage in tactical games against your friends, or to create quests and other roleplaying scenarios for your friends.

Amtgard has role playing and characters, but it doesn’t have a predefined game world with an ongoing national story-line. Because of this, Amtgard allows for a wide range of rich character backgrounds coming from both historical and Sword & Sorcery roots. We do all use persona names and they run the gamut from very medieval to fantasy to whatever. Don’t worry, if you decide you don’t like your persona name you can change it at any point in the future!"
